How to find your greater purpose

Work is becoming more about the impact that you make, rather than the job you actually do. In fact many millennials and Gen Z’s actually rate working for a company that has a greater purpose and the opportunity to do good over what they are going to get paid.

In the Wealth Creation space I have noticed exactly the same thing. Those who have a bigger purpose always do well, those who do not, often flounder never really achieving anything. Your purpose needs to be at the forefront of everything you do, everything you believe and you should be unashamedly obsessed with what your purpose is. Shouting it out from the roof tops, talking about it at the family BBQ and annoying your friends at the pub.

One of the best tools I have found for working out what your true purpose is, is the Japanese concept of the Ikigai. This combines 4 elements, what you love, what the world needs, what you are good at and what you can be paid for. In the centre of the quaddiagram sits your ikigai.

So how can you use the concept of the Ikigai for yourself in order to discover a greater purpose?

Ask yourself:

What is it that you love? What do you find yourself searching online, what pages do you follow on FB, what you tube channels do you watch, what do you do in your spare time, what gets you excited?

What does the world need? What are the problems you see in the world that you would love to fix, what do you not like about your life/society/products/culture that you would love to see fixed?

What are you good at? Ask your friends and family, put a post out on social media, what is it that other people think you are good at? What do you do easily that other people might have challenges with?

What can you get paid for? Not just get paid but create massive wealth, this will ensure you are rewarded for your efforts. It will also create attraction as others start to take notice.

Then combine it all together to find one pathway which ticks all of the above boxes. Here is what it looked like when I did this for myself:

With this Ikigai planted firmly in my mind (and my heart) I am now working to help those purpose driven individuals to create freedom and impact the world. Right now this is through teaching them how to be smarter with their investing in order to create financial freedom and regain their time. However I am also working with my team to introduce the technologies that will demonetise the cost of living allowing people to live for free, to produce food for free, water for free and energy for free. By disrupting the system and removing the cost of living it will fast track the number of people who can be financially free and dramatically increase my army of change makers working to make the world a better place.

I know it is a big ask: What is your life’s purpose and I hope that using the concept of the Ikigai will help you to gain some clarity. If you are still struggling then start simply. I love this below quote from Howard Thurman:

So what are you waiting for, let’s go change the world!

If you want to join my army of change makers and impact the world, then come join me in The Freedom Collective
